Extend the life of your Brother laser printer toner cartridge by 30 – 50 percent, depending on how much printing you do. Your Brother Printer cartridge has 2 small window sensors on the sides of the toner cartridge. Brother printers use a small laser light to detect the level of ink your cartridge has.
As the cartridge empties, light can pass through, triggering the Brother printer to display the toner empty light. The truth is, you have a lot more toner remaining. Simply cover the 2 small windows with tape (or cover the same spots on the drum), you can block Brother’s sender and trick the printer into thinking your toner is full.
By using toner saver and printing mostly text pages, you can extend the toner cartridge life by 3 – 6 months, or 30 to 50 percent more life. This Brother printer toner trick has worked on MFC’s, HL’s and more. Give it a try on your printer, and save money on toner. This may work (I’ve only used Brothers since the early Apple Laserwriters) on other brands with expensive ink and toner. Inspect the cartridge for a similar sensor on both sides
Whenever I install or open a new printer, toner, or drum, I always write the date of installation so that in the future I know how often these printing expendables are being consumed.
